|After putting together the gimbal I figure I could shave off some weight from the aluminum parts I made. So here is a small pile of parts and It currently weighs 238 grams.
I have a tendency of over engineering my designs which is a very bad thing for aircrafts because every little gram makes a difference. Whereas RC car parts are a bit more forgiving.Â So I ended up removing 59 grams off the aluminum parts.
Here are all the pieces that I worked on reducing the weight.
All the aluminum clamps that I used really add up in weight because they weight more than 100g.
Originally this is how I planned to have the gimbal mounted. But I really like the idea of having a vibration dampener at the top of the gimbal. So my next phase will be changing how the gimbal is mounted to the frame. For the time being this is the gimbal.
